Gatta Rice

Prep Time : 20 minutes. Cook Time : 30 minutes Yield : 3 to 4 person




  1. In a bowl or plate add all the ingredients 'for gatta' except water.
  2. Mix everything together to make crumbs add little water in very small quantity and make thick dough.  If you add more water the dough will be sticky so add water only in tbsp each time.20140327_121216
  3.  Divide the dough in equal portion and roll into thin long pieces like in log/cylinder shape20140327_122223
  4. Cut Gatta strip in to small part as a cube.
  5. Heat the oil , fry all chopped gatta cube.20140327_124255
  6. Prepare vegetable as suggested.
  7. Heat the pan , add 3 Tbsp ghee , add uncooked rice , roast for  3 to 4 minute in a slow flame.
  8. Remove from pan and keep aside.
  9. Now add 2 Tbsp ghee ,  Add cumin seeds, cinnamon , clove and Hing, stir well.
  10. Sauté cauliflower , peas , cabbage and capsicum.
  11. Add all spices like Red chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and Garam Masala.
  12. Add Roasted Rice, Lemon Juice and gatta, simmer for 2 minues.20140327_124835
  13. Add 4 cup  water and allow to cook for  10 minutes, stir often.
  14. Cook till rice is completely cooked.
  15. Serve Hot.
